Affordable Local Business Digital Marketing

The concept for M4 (M D Moore Marketing) came about in 2010 as a result of diving into learning everything I could about digital marketing covering web design, site content, social media, video marketing and SEO.

The somewhat misty goal at that point was to build target niche marketing websites and e-commerce product opportunities. As this unfolded and friends and acquaintances heard about my efforts, I began to get those “can you do one for me” requests.

As I started with my first client in 2009 it became abundantly clear the the small and mid-size local companies needed digital marketing and were uniquely position to benefit from… but in many cases not afford…these services.

Our company was established on the simple premise that most local companies could learn enough about digital marketing for samll business through training and coaching to collaborate with M4 on the more technical and time consuming elements. This resulted in a flexible service approach that substantially lowered the cost of leveraging online marketing to impact business growth in a positive way. Ouu slogan became:

About Me

If you are interested in the M4 approach, you have a right to know a bit about my experience.

A briefly as possible.

  • A 40 year career in the financial services industry first as a general agent buidling a successful life & health insurance agency for a large eastern insurance company for 29 years.

 

  • Then, as President of an insurance subsidiary for a top 25 National Bank and subsequently as executive vice president of the pension & 401K  business.  It was here that marketing management lead to implementing online marketing and internet strategies.

 

  • Finally, in 2010 I retired from the corporate world and began to pursue digital marketing consulting . I completed an extensive training program in online internet marketing with an organization in Vancouver and a certificate program on Inbound Marketing” with HubSpot and started M D Moore Marketing, LLC and founded M4 Digital Marketing.

Biography – Michael D. Moore

Late one afternoon in January, 2010, I began to contemplate life after the corporate job. My professional journey was most certainly the accumulation of work life expereineces that frankly shaped most aspects of my career. I spent most of my professional life as an entrepreneur of sorts as a sales agent, and after 11 years, as a General Agent with my own life and health insurance business, and only later in the corporate world as a senior manager with Huntington National Bank.

The Early Years

Born in Kansas City Missouri and raised in Omaha, Nebraska.

  • Graduated from High School in 1961, and along with 5 other members of my H.S. swim team, joined the U.S. Navy (seemed like the thing to do!)

U.S. Navy

  • Enlisted in 1960 and spent Christmas of that year in Boot Camp at the Great Lakes Training Center in Chicago.
  • My highlight memory was guarding an empty building at 4:00 am in freezing weather with an M1 rifle that was soldered shut & no bullets (I guess I was supposed to use it like a bat if the Russians invaded and wanted to break into an empty building).
  • Active duty 1961 -63 stationed in Yokosuka, Japan for two years aboard the USS Tom Green County, LST
  • Reached Petty Officer 3rd Class (like a Sargent without the loud voice!).

Education

  • Graduated from the University of Nebraska- Omaha with a degree in Industrial Communications
  • Attained the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consulant accredidations.

Family

Married my wife Carole in 1966 now 58 years and counting and we have 3 children, Michelle, Jennifer and Jonathan and they have given us the joy of 8 grandchildren. 

First Civilian Job 1963

  • Joined Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company as a sales agent
  • Entered their management development program and attended the Kombach School of Business program at the University of Michigan and completed the General Agent development requirements.
  • In 1978 accepted the opportunity to take over my own Agency in Cincinnati,  Ohio
  • Developed the Agency at the height with 30 agents. Developed 6 managers who went onto build their own agencies or accepted corporate positions in the industry.

Second Job 1996

After 29 years with Mass Mutual, Huntington National Bank offered the opportunity to join them to build a Bank life and health insurance agency.

  • Created a management and administrative team and hired sales agents and participated in the acquisition of several life insurance sales organizations and a large property and casualty agency in Florida.
  • Became President of Huntington Insurance Agency to include , life and health insurance, credit insurance, title insurance and property and casualty products and services. Manage 120 staff and sales employees.
  • In 2000 the Huntington acquired Sky Bank and senior management asked me move over to bring the retirement plan services teams of both banks together. Became the Executive VP for Retirement plan services and built/manage a team of 6 managers and 60+ employees managing, administrating and marketing 401K and company Pension plans.
  • Responsible for management and marketing through sales teams and media and online digital marketing.

Not So Retirement – Retirement

In 2010 retired from corporate senior management…

  • Pursued my interest in website and online marketing attending an internet marketing training program in Vancouver, Canada.
  • Began to design and develop product oriented and ecommerce websites for my own portfolio.
  • Emersed my learning in all things digital marketing completing online training in:
    • Inbound website marketing
    • Business website design and optimization
    • Website Content marketing
    • Social Media marketing
    • Video marketing

  • Around 2004 acquired my first local business client to build a business website and implement online digital marketing.

  • Created M D Moore Marketing, LLC and the M4 Digital Marketing services for the small and mid-size local company and entrepreneur.

What I Have Learned & What I Offer

Really, the most important lessons from my professional journey are clear to me

> The importance of Communicating with people by listening first

> When you hire people or acquire a client it is really a partnership and your job as expereinced professional is to help every client, or people you manage, to become their best self and find their most productive journey.

> I learned that you are not important unless you are important to the people whose lives you touch.

> If you do not add value and enrich the lives and work life journey of those you associate with you have not reached your own potential.

> My real purpose is to recognize the potential in others and motivate and mentor the relationship to help them reach their unique success and happiness.
